I feel very fortunate to have engaged with John from Making Shapes to develop our Sleep Kit project. The Sleep Kit is an animated video which was developed by staff from SMH with funding from the HSE spark innovation fund. The Sleep Kit provides a series of evidence-informed sleep supports for children and adults with learning disabilities, but is designed to be used and useful to a much wider audience.

John supported our team to translate the idea into a genuinely useful and visually appealing clinical tool. He supported us with every aspect of the project development from how it could and would look, how end-users could interact with it, how to break the ideas down and translate them into visual format, character development, and flow of the story. The end product is a stunning 10 minute animation that has an appeal to both children and adults and shares important information to support sleep hygiene.

John showed infinite patience in exploring our ideas, brought excellent creativity and problem solving skills, and showed an ability to hold both us as client and the end-user in mind at the same time. He was simultaneously able to show great attention to detail and to keep the bigger picture in mind. While we had some idea of how we hoped the project could evolve, Johns expertise in graphics, product-design, project planning, and end-user experience helped us to realise the end-product in a way far exceeded our expectations. The feedback from clinicians and service users has been excellent.
